Make the most of your water!
I get asked daily what the heck is in my water, as it appears a deep, greenish, relatively unappetizing color. It seems to always be a topic of conversation. Adding a combination of ingredients to the first large bottle full of water for the day adds a bit of variation for your taste buds, which therefore makes it less likely you will decrease your consumed water intake due to boredom. The components of my water and why I add them are listed below:
- Greens– I love adding greens to my water. It is hard to get all the necessary anti-oxidants, phytonutrients, vitamins, minerals, plant oils, green food, land vegetables, sea vegetables, cruciferous vegetables, herbs and extracts, and botanicals in a day! My favourite brand for greens is the progressive blueberry medley! It includes all of these categories and tastes the best from what I have tried so far. It even includes B12 which is extremely important for vegans and vegetarians, since the only source of B12 is animal products. Including greens into your daily routine is great for retaining energy levels, detoxification, feeling great, immune-modulating, decreased bloating, weight loss, clear skin, and the list goes on and on. The more nutrient dense products and food you can take in, the better! Treat your body!
2. Chlorophyll– Chlorophyll is the green component in plants that is a wonderful detoxifier for our bodies. I enjoy the mint flavoured liquids. It gives it a refreshing feel to the solution.
I also like to add in coconut water and lemons somedays to change it up!
** Most important thing to remember. This is just a supplemental idea for spicing up your water, not a substitution for eating real whole foods. Eating quality foods should be the primary and constant source of all of these constituents. If you are not eating a proper diet, adding these things to your water will not be enough to counteract the unhealthy environmental factors that are being enforced upon your body!**
