How to calculate your BMI
The body mass index (BMI) is a measurement of weight and height that provides insight into whether or not you are in a healthy state. The calculation is as follows:
Imperial Method:
BMI = (weight in pounds x 703)/height in inches (squared)
Metric Method:
BMI= (weight in kilograms)/height in meters (squared)
Underweight – BMI < 18.5
Normal weight- BMI between 18.5 & 24.9
Overweight – BMI between 25.0 & 29.9
Obese- BMI 30.0 and above
*This is not 100% accurate. It is just a guideline. But it is important to keep this in mind and strive to be in the “healthy” ranges. However, athletes, pregnant women, the elderly, and children, will have different ratios of muscle to fat which will effect the results.*
