DAILY HEALTH CHALLENGE!!
Nowadays, soo many westerners are having a very difficult time with digestion. Many have constant symptoms associated with improper absorption, inflammation…etc. This can be presented as gas, bloating, cramping, constipation, diarrhea, ..etc. While modifying your diet is a necessary staple or key factor to help sort things out in your system, there are also supplementary things you can do to help improve and manage the situation.
Two things you can try:
Drink 250-500 mL of warm water with freshly squeezed lemons first thing in the morning!
– this is detoxifying for your liver which is the organ responsible for removing toxins from your body (can make more enzymes from lemons then any other food), decreases bloating, offer hydration (most people do not drink enough water), constipation relief (more water increases movement in your gut), potentially limit/prevent UTI’s (urinary tract infections) (changes pH of blood and urine so bacteria can not thrive), battle breath (fight bacteria in your mouth), weight loss, freshen skin (vitamin C- maintains collagen in the skin), and strengthen immune system (vitamin c) to name a few.
One teaspoon of apple cider vinegar once in the morning and once at night. Mixed with water or straight up.
- a primary reason for indigestion, is the LACK of acid in the stomach contrary to popular belief. By drinking something acidic like apple cider vinegar, it actually stimulates the stomach to produce more acid to help with digestion. You can take this straight up or in a glass of water.
My boyfriend had major digestive issues for a couple months and we tried this with him, and it really relieved the stomach pain he was feeling. By continuing this procedure everyday, it eventually went away and so he was able to ween off the apple cider vinegar. However, he still drinks the lemon water every morning, and uses the apple cider vinegar if he ever gets some flare ups.

** See a naturopath if you have chronic stomach pain that lasts over a week or two. As there is a slight chance it could be related to H.Pylori which is a bacterium that causes ulcers in your stomach. There are tests they can do to detect it the bacterium is present, and if so, you probably don’t want to be making your stomach any more acidic than you have to during that time.**
